Despite a variety of support programs in the U.S., a multitude of people go to bed hungry every night. According to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau:

  •  More than 45 million Americans live below the poverty line

  • More than 49 million Americans are at risk of hunger

  • Over 48 percent of households in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps) are working households.

  • Two-thirds of SNAP recipients are children, elderly or disabled

Musicians Mission of Mercy targets distributions in communities with a high percentage of these populations, including children attending Title 1 schools and their families, the elderly on fixed incomes, disabled veterans and people who are mentally or physically challenged.
